About the Virtual Learning Center

Eight years of excellence at the VLC

The Virtual Learning Center offers a wide variety of distance education options, from medical transcription courses and medical coding classes, to digital photography programs. Home training lets students schedule their own online classes in the comfort of their own homes.

For seven years, the VLC has offered learning opportunities in expanding fields. Our most consistently popular choice has been medical transcription education, followed closely by medical coding and billing courses.

Mentoring Interactive Modular Education

Our M.I.M.E. (Mentoring Interactive Modular Education) method of instruction was developed by VLC staff to facilitate the distance education experience. It provides students with instructor mentoring, interaction with both instructors and fellow students, and modular presentation of information online to ensure lessons are studied in the most efficient order. There are six professional medical transcriptionists on staff to instruct the three medical transcription courses, which are geared toward three different career goals.

Depending upon course choice, successful completion qualifies students to work at home or at healthcare facilities, as medical transcriptionists, or in medical billing or medical coding departments. All courses offer a Certificate of Completion after students have successfully written a final exam. The VLC is a member of the American Association for Medical Transcription (AAMT), and all of these courses follow the Association's model curriculum.

Tuition payment plans

Along with the wide variety of medical-support, general and business courses, the VLC offers a number of tuition payment plans to help students finance their studies.

International student body

We like to think of our distance education school as a virtual campus with a truly international student body. To that end, we have prepared a selection of subjects to appeal to almost anyone interested in taking home training courses in home based classes.
